It
is my pleasure to welcome you to the
Center for Undergraduate Studies at Virginia Union University.
After successfully completing your General Education
Core Courses with us, your particular interests may
direct you to one of the University’s 24 majors
grouped under the School of Education and Interdisciplinary
Studies, the Sydney Lewis School of Business, the
School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School
of Basic, Applied Science and Technology. Common to
these majors is the emphasis on critical thinking,
a sense of community, service and excellence.
In keeping with its mission, The
Center for Undergraduate Studies is here to provide first-year and sophomore
students with excellent foundations for life through
a comprehensive and sustained academic experience.
Our freshman and sophomore curricula are further strengthened
through the close bonds we maintain with the University’s
four other schools and community partnerships. Your
learning experience will be enriched not only in the
classroom but also in the field, where you will undertake
real-world projects as you complete your Sophomore
Capstone Civic Engagement Project.
The
Center for Undergraduate Studies is here to assist you.
To keep you informed of the requirements to complete
your courses of study, take advantage of the School’s
valuable centers and services: The Academic Empowerment
Center (AEC), the Academic Support Services for Student
Athletes (ASSSA), and the Center for the Advancement
of Academic Excellence (CAAE). Our faculty and staff
members are experts in hospitality, providing academic
advising, course scheduling, disability, tutorial
and test services among others. They are highly-credentialed
and genuinely caring individuals.
We want to make sure that your experience at the
Center for Undergraduate Studies at Virginia Union University is
as smooth and pleasant as possible. Therefore, feel
free to contact us at any time.
We, in the
Center for Undergraduate Studies, are pleased
to be part of a vital University, deeply rooted in
its rich African-American Heritage, diverse, high-tech
and excellence-driven. We thank you for choosing the
path of a truly distinctive educational experience
and know that success is on your side.
All the faculty, directors, coordinators, and staff
join me in wishing you success.
