THE
FIVE “C”s TO AVOIDING CONFLICT
CARE
You
must take care of yourself as well as show care
(respect) for others.
COMMUNICATE
Take the time to learn about others, their
likes; dislikes; habits. Be open to share the same.
Practice being an active listener.
COMPASSION
Be considerate of the other person. Show
concern and empathy toward another who may be experiencing
a difficult time. Allow others to show the same
toward you.
COMPROMISE
Be willing to take a step back. Concede.
Say, “I’m sorry.” Realize that
things may not always go your way.
COMPLY
Follow the VUU Standards of Conduct as
outlined in the Student Handbook. In addition, make
sure to obey all state and federal laws and regulations.
Remind your fellow students to do the same.
