Collaborations with Thompson Hospitality

A key component to student success is the relationships built with faculty, staff and administrators outside of the classroom setting. To this end, The Division of Student Affairs in provides the following programs for undergraduate students.

Take Your Advisor or Faculty Member to Lunch
This program provides an opportunity for students to invite faculty members to lunch at the Student Dining Hall. The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities for informal interaction outside of the classroom. This program serves to: assist students in creating networking skills, enhance relationships between faculty and students, provided opportunities for students and faculty to interact outside of the classroom, and allow faculty members to spend time in a student centered environment.

Afternoon Chats With The Vice President for Student Affairs
This program is designed to provide opportunities for students to participate in informal discussions with the Vice President for Student Affairs. Afternoon Chat programs occur at least one time per month over lunch in the President’s Dining Room. The purpose of the program is to provide a forum for students to engage in discussion and reflection with the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Participation on the Student Meal Committee
The Meal Committee is composed of students, administrators, and staff persons from Thompson Hospitality. This group of students is responsible for: (a) obtaining student opinions about the dining program(s), (b) providing feedback about the quality of dining programs to Thompson Hospitality, Financial Affairs, and Student Affairs, making recommendations for, and planning special dining initiatives, and attention to other special projects related to the dining program.
