Mr. Willard Bailey is a tenured Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education. He received his B.A from Norfolk State University and his M.A in Education and Athletic Administration from New York University (1967). Mr. Bailey has served as Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach at Norfolk State University. In 1995, he decided to return to Virginia Union University where he has managed to develop a strong professional program of recreation. In 2004, Mr. Bailey was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. In 2005, he received the annual academic achievement award of the National Football Foundation in College Hall of Fame established in his name. In 2006, Mr. Bailey was one of the seven honoraries to receive a distinguished award for Humanitarian of the year for the Virginia Conference of Community and Justice. Finally, Mr. Bailey is recognized as the winningest coach in the history of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Dr. Wilbert Jenkins holds the rank of Associate Professor and is currently Dean of the School of Education and Interdisciplinary Studies at Virginia Union University. His duties at VUU include teaching, advising and providing leadership to the unit. He entered higher education as an Associate Professor and Director of Public School Services at Fayetteville State University, a position he held for five years. Prior to his higher education experience, Dr. Jenkins had a distinguished career in the public schools spanning thirty four years as a teacher, principal, and central office executive in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. His academic preparation includes the following: Ed.D Nova Southeastern University (1976), M.S Indiana University (1968), B.S Fayetteville State University (1961). He has done additional study at University of Florida, University of Virginia, and Vanderbilt University-Peabody College
Dr. Sunita Sharma is a Chair and an Associate professor of Special Education and Elementary Education. She has a Doctor of Education degree (dual program) in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership with focus on Multicultural Education. She has Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with focus on Literacy and Special Education with Multicultural Perspective and Master’s degree in Special Education. She has another Master’s degree in Political Science with focus on International Law, International Relations and Comparative Government. She has 25 years of teaching experience in teaching PreK-12, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level courses and supervised doctoral dissertations as well. Dr. Sharma is recipient of Phi Delta Kappa Best Dissertation Award. She has taught numerous courses in Special Education, General Education, Leadership and Multicultural Education.
