Never before has there been
such a need for science and technology applications
than is needed in today’s world. Never before
have there been so many career opportunities for persons
interested in science and technology based enterprise,
particularly for students of color. The need for uniquely
skilled workers particularly from under-represented
groups in and from under-served populations has never
been greater. Yet many national organizations and institutions
are unaware of how to fill the workforce void created
in part by an ever changing world economy and shifting
demographic patterns. This is where an institution like
Virginia Union University comes in to play; particularly
in our school of Basic, Applied Sciences and Technology
(SBAST). Here in the SBAST, we work hard to fashion
just the type program specific to your individual goals.
We not only deliver instruction in pace with peer institutions
across this nation, our efforts are equally directed
at developing a critical mass of skill sets in trainees,
identified to be most useful in today’s complex
and dynamic workforce. Our diverse group of scientists
and technical staff are among the best in the world
at what they do and they do it with pride and distinction.
Many of our science alumni have been successful in the
health professions, private industry and in higher education.
Still others have combined their discipline specific
skills with leadership skills learned here to become
avid professionals in regulatory agencies, law and government
at all levels. So, when one really looks at what is
important for an educational experience in science and
technology; few look no further after looking at VUU.
