Ms. Roslyn McCallister
Brock serves on the National Board of Directors and the National
Board of Trustees for the National Association for the Advancement
of Colored People (NAACP). Over the past eighteen years, Brock
has served the NAACP in several leadership roles. In February
2001, at the age of 35 she
made history when she was unanimously elected Vice Chairman
of the NAACP National Board of Directors. She is the youngest
person and the first woman to hold this post in the organization’s
history.
Brock is Director of System Fund Development for the Sisters
of Bon Secours Health System, Inc., headquartered in Marriottsville,
Maryland. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Virginia Union
University. (B.S. ‘87) She also earned a master's degree
in health services administration from George Washington University,
(M.H.S.A. ‘89) and an MBA from the Kellogg School of
Management at Northwestern University (‘99).
A committed community advocate who works on behalf of vulnerable
populations, Brock has served on the boards of community mental
health; family and children's services; senior services and
faith based community ministries. She's been a volunteer elementary
school instructor for Junior Achievement and host of "Community
Voices," a local cable access program.
Brock is a member of several professional and civic organizations.
They include the American Public Health Association, National
Association of Health Service Executives, National Black MBA
Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., and The Links,
Inc.
Brock's leadership skills have been recognized by several
national publications. She was cited by "Ebony"
magazine as a "Future Leader" ('89); and by "Good
Housekeeping" as one of "100 Young Women of Promise"
('87). Honors include: Outstanding Alumna, Virginia Union
University; Honorary Chairperson, National Black Family Summit;
Martin Luther King, Jr., Medal for Human Rights, George Washington
University; and 2003 Young Leaders Fellow for the National
Committee on U.S.-China Relations.
Brock's goal in life is embodied in an African proverb "Care
more than others think is wise, Risk more than others think
is safe, Dream more than others think is practical and Expect
more than others think is possible."
