VUU WIN SETS UP SHOWDOWN WITH ELIZABETH CITY STATE

BOWIE, MD. -- Elihu Smith ran for 155 yards, and Lamar Little threw for 98 yards and a touchdown to lead Virginia Union to a 9-7 win against Bowie State on Saturday.
Virginia Union missed the extra point, but scored again on a 43-yard field goal by Hugo Flores-Diaz in the second quarter, giving Virginia Union a 9-0 lead.

Bowie State scored in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Peter Mensah, as Bowie State went 76 yards in four plays to pull within two points.  
But Bowie State couldn't score again.

 
 
 
 
   
The win raised VUU's record to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the CIAA. The win also sets up a showdown game between the Panthers and Elizabeth City State for the CIAA Eastern Division championship next Saturday in Elizabeth City, N.C.
