Steps
to Financial Aid Awards
Graduate School of Financial Aid
STEP 1-
FAFSA
Complete
and submit the Free Application for Student Financial Aid
(FAFSA). This should be submitted via the internet (if possible),
or it may be mailed directly to the Federal Processor (not
VUU). The correct “free” website to use is www.FAFSA.ED.GOV.
Using any other web address may cost you money. Please remember
to include the VUU School Code – 003766 on your FAFSA.
This will allow the Graduate Financial Aid Office to retrieve
your FAFSA results electronically for award processing.
STEP
2 – STUDENT DATA SHEET
Complete
are return the Student Data Sheet to the Graduate Financial
Aid Office. This form is available on the VUU Website under
the Samuel DeWitt Proctor index. A Data Sheet is sent with
other informational materials to newly admitted students.
STEP
3- STUDENT AID REPORT
Upon
receipt of your Student Aid Report (SAR), showing the results
of your FAFSA, review the document carefully for accuracy.
Assistance is available to make corrections by calling 1-800-433-3243.
In reviewing
your SAR, if the EFC has an asterisk (*), you should mail
a signed copy of your tax return that was used to complete
the FAFSA. If you have a spouse, please remember to send
their tax return also indicating the VUU student’s
name and social security number or ID number. Remember the
tax return will not be returned. The Verification Worksheet
(available on VUU website) should also be completed and
submitted with your tax return.
STEP
4- REVIEW
Review
any/all correspondence sent from the VUU Graduate Financial
Aid Office. Additional information may be needed to complete
the awarding process. All correspondence will be sent to
your permanent address unless otherwise requested.
STEP
5- YOUR AWARD LETTER
An Award
Notification (or Award Letter), showing financial aid offered
will be sent via U.S. Mail. Offered aid will be cancelled
if you do not return your signed Award Letter within the
specified time.
