The New Healthcare Law: The Real Impact on Virginia Businesses

2013 Inaugural Workshop Series for Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs

The Affordable Care Act, which went into law in March 2010, makes it mandatory for all businesses to obtain health insurance for employees. Many provisions immediately took effect but many more – including new tax benefits and options for healthcare coverage - are slated to impact small businesses by 2014

The Center for Small Business Development at the Sydney Lewis School of Business of Virginia Union University invites business owners and self -employed entrepreneurs to a groundbreaking workshop to learn what the new healthcare law, the Affordable Care Act, means to your bottom line. The workshops, led by best-selling author, media luminary and financial expert, Aaron W. Smith, Founder & President, AW Smith Financial Group, will focus on both federal and state provisions to help local small businesses understand how the law will affect them.

Topics include:

• Small business tax credits—who’s eligible for them and how to claim them

• State Health Insurance Exchange

• High-risk Pools

• Shared Responsibility

• Cost Containment

• Small Employer Wellness Programs

• Tools and resources available for small businesses interested in learning more about the law

A question and answer period will follow.

Don’t miss the most important business workshop of 2013! Find out what parts of the law have already been enacted and what you need to be doing now to prepare for January 1, 2014 and beyond.
