Merit Scholarship Guidelines
OFFICE OF ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
$4,000 PER YEAR ($2,000 PER SEMESTER)
THIS VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY (VUU) SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED ANNUALLY AND MAY BE RENEWED FOR THREE (3) CONSECUTIVE YEARS IF THE RECIPIENT MAINTAINS THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED BELOW:
- The student should be a high school graduating senior or first time transfer student to VUU. The student must enter VUU with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher, and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA per academic year. The student must be enrolled full time each fall and spring semester at VUU and earn a minimum of 30 credit hours (August - May) per academic year.
The student should have the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file at VUU. If a Virginia resident, the student should apply for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG). If you have any questions, the counselors in Financial Aid can be reached at 804-257-5882.
The student must participate in community service activities and devote a minimum of ten hours per month each semester, by volunteering service with one of our partner agencies. All placements must be with a listed partner agency and pre-approved by the Director of Community Services.
Any recipient of a VUU scholarship may forfeit the award if found responsible for violating VUU policies.
VUU reserves the right to amend or cancel, in whole or part, any provision, application, or award of this scholarship with written notice to the student recipient.
Completion of Admissions application and acceptance to Virginia Union University does not guarantee a Merit Scholarship Award. A limited amount of scholarship funds is available.
