Each residence hall has a professional staff member (Residence Hall Director) and paraprofessional staff members (Resident Assistants). Residence Hall Directors (RHD) are full-time, live-in professional staff members. These individuals are responsible for supervising the resident assistants and coordinating the overall management and operation of their assigned residence hall. Resident Assistants (RA) are live-in student staff members. The RAs primary function is to serve fellow students on the floor or section in which the RA lives. Residence Hall Directors and Resident Assistants are readily available to provide information on a variety of topics and to refer students to offices or people who can assist them in resolving any problems or difficulties. They are also responsible for upholding University and residence hall policies.
Every residence hall at Virginia Union University has a lobby area with cable TV, as well as a microwave. Each building also boasts wireless internet. All residence halls have a laundry room, which includes free usage of the washers and dryers for the students. Residence halls also have study rooms that are available for use at all hours. Most residence halls have double occupancy rooms. There are a very limited amount of single occupancy rooms available, which are reserved for upperclassmen students who pay the extra single-room fee.
