ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION
The School of Education ,Psychology, and Interdisciplinary Studies is seeking a faculty member to teach in the Elementary Education Licensure Program The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of assistant or associate professor with a nine month appointment to begin work August 2013.

Required Qualifications: Earned Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) with specialization in Elementary Education or Early Childhood/Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction from a regionally accredited institution and be eligible to obtain teaching credentials from the Virginia Department of Education are required. Official copies of college transcripts from a regionally accredited institution must be filed by appointment date for the successful candidate selected. Evidence of teaching, service, and a record of scholarly activity is desired.
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: The School seeks a dynamic individual to teach undergraduate courses in elementary education curriculum and instruction. In addition to teaching, the position entails coordinating the elementary education licensure program for content area majors, undergraduate student advising, active participation on school and university committees, and active involvement in scholarly activities such as publishing and obtaining grants. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Excellence in teaching, research, and service is required for future promotion and tenure. Preference will also be given to candidates with K-12 teaching experience.
