Position: Part-time Laboratory Technician

Virginia Union University is seeking an experienced, task-oriented, and reliable individual to fill the vacant position of part-time laboratory technician in the Department of Natural Sciences.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting faculty in setting up laboratory exercises, receiving and properly storing all chemicals in the department, assisting in the preparation of reagents for the labs, monitoring, recording, and storing any hazardous waste generated in the labs, and assisting the Hazardous Waste Coordinator in the management of hazardous waste in the department.

The individual, therefore, must have excellent organizational, general laboratory management, and record keeping skills. A working knowledge of DEQ regulations relating to waste management will be highly regarded.
