The Division of Institutional Advancement manages the process for maintaining and improving the relationship of Virginia Union University with its constituents and selected publics in a way that most effectively contributes to the achievement of the University’s mission.
As of December 31, 2011, support of Virginia Union University remained unprecedented. In fact, during the last quarter of 2011, commitments increased from $1,260,500 to $3,520,500 or 179%. This is due in large measure by support from the Board of Trustees, alumni, friends, faculty and staff, corporations and the foundation community. More specifically, the university received its largest individual alumni commitment in the amount of $2 million from Trustee and alumnus, Mr. Robert J. Brown. In addition, substantial endorsements in the form of challenge grants were made by the Richmond foundation community and included, the Mary Morton Parson’s Foundation, Cabell Foundation and the Reynolds Foundation. The University also received support from the Robins Foundation. However, we continue to be grateful for the support of our many constituents whose commitment to excellence and benevolence enable us to make a difference for our deserving students.
