Campus Favorities
Ask any current VUU student or any graduate of the University, and they'll be able to provide a long list of memorable places on campus. That's because after a short while, the VUU campus begins to feel like home. Here are some of students' campus favorites:

Martin E. Gray Hall
This historic hall, which has been totally renovated, houses modern facilities for the teacher education program, the social sciences, and the speech and drama program.

Henderson Center
The multipurpose Henderson Center is home to the dining hall, game rooms, the mail center, the Career Planning and Placement Center, the Student Health Center, Student Affairs, and the VUU Bookstore.

L. Douglas Wilder Library and Learning Resource Center
Reference Reading Room
Reference materials are kept for patrons to use only in the building. Encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, and other printed sources are available in this area.

Periodicals Reading Room
Reserved materials, Inter-library Loan requests, Internet printing, and assistance with finding articles in journals and newspapers through online and CD-ROM databases are some services.

Lecture Hall
This is used for the Library Lecture Series, large classes having special programs, or special activities. It has video and audio projection capabilities for various types of electronic presentation formats.

VUU's Choir
Choir and the Alumni Choir forms every five years to sing several portions of Mendelssohn’s great oratorio "Elijah," as well as a group of well-known and well-loved Negro Spirituals.

The Caf
(as VUU students affectionately call it!)
Thompson Hospitality, contracted by the University, provides meals during the academic year. "The Caf" is located on the second floor of Henderson Center and welcomes students during these hours: Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M.-8:30 A.M., 11:30 A.M.-1:30 P.M., and 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M; Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. Students with specific dietary needs are encouraged to meet with Gourmet Services' director to design a satisfactory meal plan.

The Square
One of the favorite gathering and meeting places on campus is "The Square," a red brick patio in front of Henderson Center. Students enjoy concerts, Greek step shows, recreational games, student musical performances at Homecoming, and cook-outs on The Square. It's also a favorite spot for just hanging out!

Chapel Services in Coburn Hall
The spiritual life of the VUU campus community is nurtured by chapel services every Thursday in Coburn Hall. This is an important time for students who desire to do so to become more deeply involved in their faith.
