Accreditation & Public Disclosure

Virginia Union University adheres to the SACSCOC policy on Institutional Obligations for Public Disclosure that states, "A candidate or accredited SACSCOC institution is obligated to provide to its students, constituents, and the public information about itself that is complete, accurate, timely, accessible, clear, and sufficient.”

Virginia Union University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor's, master's, and a Doctor of Ministry degrees. Questions about the accreditation of Virginia Union University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, by calling (404) 679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).

Undergraduate and graduate programs are also accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS), the Association of Collegiate Business Schools (ACBSP), the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Other affiliations of the University include membership in the College Fund/UNCF, the American Council on Education, The College Board, the Council of Independent Colleges, the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia, The Richmond Oral History Association, Beta Kappa Chi National Honor Scientific Society, Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, the Association of American Colleges, and the College Entrance Examination Board.



Student Achievements:

VUU publicly monitors and shares student achievement metrics through publicly available sources such as SCHEV, College Navigator, and College Results Online. Metrics include enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and degrees conferred. Learning outcomes for the Core Curriculum are published in the catalog. Students can request additional data by contacting department heads or Academic Affairs.

Faculty Achievements:

VUU's faculty members are highly competent and qualified, committed to academic excellence in the classroom, scholarship, and service. The VUU UNIONITE contains a detailed listing highlighting the successes and achievements of our faculty and staff. All faculty at VUU are academically qualified to teach those courses assigned to them, and all full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty are evaluated annually for promotion and tenure. Requirement: “The institution is expected (1) to report to the public its status with SACSCOC accurately; (2) to publish the name of its primary accreditor and its contact information in accordance with federal requirements; and (3) accurately disclose its accreditation status regarding any adverse actions such as Probation, Probation for Good Cause, or denial, withdrawal, or removal from membership.”
