If the student has exhausted the university institutional process, a further complaint can be filed with the Virginia State Council of Higher Education at www.schev.edu.
Virginia Union University is an approved member institution of NC-SARA, and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is the SARA Portal Entity for Virginia. Students should first attempt to resolve their complaint(s) using the VUU Student Complaint Process procedures described above. If a student is not satisfied with the outcome of the institutional process for handling complaints (except for complaints about grades or student conduct violations) the complaint may be appealed, within two years of the incident about which the complaint is made, to the SARA Portal Entity (SCHEV) in the home state of the institution. SCHEV or the SARA Portal Entity for Virginia shall notify the SARA State Portal Entity for the state in which the student is located of receipt of that appealed complaint. The resolution of the complaint by the institution’s home state SARA State Portal Entity (SCHEV), through its SARA complaint resolution process, will be final (except for complaints that fall under the provision “g” of the SARA Manual).
