Dr. Jackson graduated from Virginia State University with a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 2006. In 2011 he earned a Doctorate in Chemistry with a concentration on Inorganic and Materials Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society. His research interests involve the design and synthesis of low density and highly porous polymers for use in a wide range of applications including hydrogen storage, catalysis, and drug delivery. Currently, Dr. Jackson is engaged in several research activities, including: (1) Water Quality Analysis and GIS Mapping of Pollution and Contaminants along the James River; (2) UV Spectrophotometric Analysis of Heavy Metals in Water Samples; (3) Analysis of Energy Consumption and Student Perception of Sustainability Issues on the Campus of VUU; (4) Simultaneous Determination of Ni, Cd, Pb, As, and Hg, ions using a Common Plant Pigment, Cyanidin, as a Natural Chromophore; and (5) Development, Synthesis, and Analysis of MOFs (Metal-Organic Frameworks): Porous Materials for Gas Storage Applications.
