Dr. McShepard

Dr. Gerard McShepard earned his Ph.D. in Biology with a Neuroscience emphasis from Tennessee State University. He also earned a M.S. in Biology from Tennessee State University. He received his B.S. in Biology from Fisk University.  Recently, Dr. McShepard has re-activated Beta Kappa Chi and the National Institute of Science on the campus of Virginia Union University where he serves as advisor to both societies. Dr. McShepard has also  served as the chapter President and as the National Treasurer of Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Honor Society. His research interests are focused on the molecular mechanisms that regulate sodium-dependent, high affinity Choline Transport in order to demonstrate the involvement of GTPases (i.e. Dynamin) in the retrieval of the ChCoT from the plasma membrane. Dr. McShepard holds memberships in the following organizations: Phi Delta Kappa, Beta Kappa Chi, Sigma Chi, AAAS, American Association of University Professors, American Physiological Society, National Institute of Science, The Society for Neuroscience, and the American Society for Microbiology.
