Received his Bachelor’s in Science in Biology from Virginia Union University and his doctorate of philosophy in Neurophysiology from Howard University College of Medicine under the training of C. Ovid Trouth, MD., Ph.D. Dr. Ruffin research focuses on the regulation of pH in the mammalian brain. Dr. Ruffin also received training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and University of California San Diego under the mentoring of Gabriel G. Haddad, MD., Ph.D. and at Yale University College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University under the mentoring of Walter F. Boron, MD., Ph.D. Currently, Dr. Vernon Ruffin is an assistant professor at Virginia Union University teaching Embryology, Physiology, and Research techniques to biology majors and Biology to non-biology majors.
