Greetings VUU Supporters,
Thank you for your interest in supporting Virginia Union University’s (VUU)
45th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Celebration.
In 2021 and 2022, the university partnered with WTVR-CBS 6 in Richmond,
VA to promote King’s legacy and local impact to an estimated seventy-five
thousand households in the greater Richmond metropolitan community.
The award-winning program generated double-digit increases in local
television ratings that have outpaced viewership rankings versus other popular
Monday night primetime shows.
The 45th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Leaders Celebration will
be held in person on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Downtown Richmond
Marriott. The event will reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and impact on the local
community. The celebration will highlight and recognize local leaders and
organizations whose contributions embody Dr. King’s spirit of selfless giving
for the benefit of our “beloved” community.
The event attendance will include a leading list of local corporations, civic
groups, religious leaders, and educators, in addition to community and
municipal stakeholders in the greater Richmond community.
Dr. King’s philosophy of non-violent engagement and transformational social
justice model is needed in our current society as we look to overcome civil
unrest centered on racial injustice.
The theme for the celebration will be” In All Things, Excellence” this statement
aligns with the spirit of Virginia Union University and its vision for the future
that is anchored in its African American heritage and commitment to advancing
diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We are excited to share this special opportunity for remembrance, reconciliation,
and reclamation with you through sponsorship and giving levels.
