Brenner, Howard Earn All-CIAA Rookie Honors

Virginia Union University's Annie Brenner and Audrenik Howard have been named to the 2018 CIAA All-Rookie Team, the CIAA announced on Monday, April 30.

Brenner, a freshman outfielder from Canberra, Australia, batted .280 while driving in 13 runs.

Howard, a freshman outfielder from Oak Harbor, Wash., batted .365 with seven doubles and two home runs.  She drove in 20 runs this season for the Lady Panthers.

The two All-Rookie selections marked the first time Virginia Union has landed two players on the All-Rookie Team since 2011 when Renesha Chiles and Shermanda Fambro made All-Rookie.

VUU plays Winston-Salem State University in the first round of the CIAA Softball Tournament at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, in Salem, Va.
