Burning Sands Donate $5,000 to Athletic Department

The Burning Sands Football Club presented Virginia Union University Athletic Director Joe Taylor and Director of Marketing Ralph Brown a check for $5,000 during the halftime of the VUU-Carson-Newman football game on Saturday, September 15.

The Burning Sands Football Club supports the overall mission of Virginia Union University and the Department of Athletics.

The goal of the Burning Sands is a reflection of our mission statement, to help in scholarships and equipment for the football team," said Lamont Clayton and Angriess Scott. "Our annual golf tournament is a driving force off the tee in helping us sustain a annual contribution to the Athletic Dept. With the selling of memorabilia and other merchandise at games also helps us with raising money for scholarships. All of this plays into our mission statement in helping the Athletic Department. at Virginia Union University. This is about love and pride to which our members are ex-football players. We thank all who participate in our golf tourney every year which is on the national golf registry of outstanding golf tournaments. See you on the 27th of July, 2019 for the next tournament. So get on board for this tournament will be a big one at the Birkdale Golf Course."
