Panther Family,
Tomorrow is Power Wednesday at Virginia Union! During Build Power Week, VUU will host and take part in a number of events meant to raise awareness of ways to harness the power of the Black community.
Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with Bishop Charles Jenkins, in the second installment of his two-part Presidential Distinguished Lecture Series discussion. Jenkins will take the stage beginning at 12 Noon EST. You can watch live on the Center for the Study of HBCU’s Facebook page, or join the Zoom link included above.
And that’s not all! To begin the day, we celebrate the life and legacy of the Richmond 34 during a live press conference sponsored by the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The press conference can be seen via YouTube and will begin at 10:00am eastern standard time.
To close out the evening, VUU President, Dr. Lucas will be featured by Rice University’s Center for Engagement Research & Collaborative Learning (CERCL), serving as orator for a lecture entitled “Repairing the Breach: How HBCUs Can Save America, Again!” Beginning at 7:00pm, Dr. Lucas will examine how Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ (HBCUs) can assist in the efforts to repair the social, economic, and political breaches widening the foundation of American culture.
