Virginia Union University's Yasmine Lewis collected two hits in the first game while teammate Diamond Jones got two hits in the second game, but Chowan University swept the Lady Panthers in softball action 16-2 and 11-5 in softball action on Sunday, April 7, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
Jones got the only RBI for VUU in the first game when she drove in Brenda Reninga in the third inning.
Reninga scored the Panthers' first run when she tripled and then scored on a Chowan error in the second inning.
In the second game, VUU's Daionna Wright drove in Reninga with a single to right field in the fifth inning and then Jones followed with a double down the left field line, scoring Lewis.
The losses drop VUU to 8-17 overall and 7-5 in the CIAA. Chowan is now 15-20 overall and 11-2 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union is now in third place of the Northern Division of the CIAA. The Panthers wrap up the 2019 regular season when they host Virginia State University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va.
