 Day Scores Hole In One at Manor Intercollegiate

The Manor Intercollegiate Golf Tournament was hosted by Longwood University and was contested at The Manor Golf Club Friday and Saturday, March 30-31 in Farmville, Va.  The Manor Golf Course is a Par 72, 7, 246 yards layout proved to be a great test over the 54-holes two day tournament with blustery winds and sunny days.

There were a total of 14 teams competing. 13 were Division 1 and VUU as the lone Division 2 team competing.  Division 1 teams were University of Delaware, Hampton University, Indiana University (IUPUI), LaSalle University, Liberty University (participated as individuals) Long Island University-Brooklyn, NY, Niagara University, North Carolina Central, Sacred Heart University, Wagner College, Western Carolina University, Wright State University.
 
VUU team scoring for the 54 hole tournament 955 (320/314/320) and finished 11th.  VUU team scoring was led by Sergio Escalante with a 54-hole two day total of 229 (76/76/77), followed by Robel Woldagabriel 232 (80/76/76), Allan Day 244 (81/81/81) which included A Hole-in-One, and Paul Meints 256 (84/87/85). Christopher Peoples posted a second round score of 81 that contributed to the 2nd day team total of 314.
 
This was our last out of Spring Season tournament prior to the CIAA Northern Division and CIAA Championship.
 
"The format was a first for the VUU Golf Team and again I am proud of their performance finishing with a 54-hole scoring average of 79", says Head VUU Golf Coach E. Lee Coble.
