Three members of the Virginia Union University football team have earned Player of the Week honors from the CIAA.
The CIAA announced on Tuesday, September 4, that VUU's Tyrone Glanton was named the Linebacker of the Week, Tovias Parker was named Defensive Back of the Week and Tabyus Taylor was named the Offensive Back of the Week.
Glanton, a senior from Miami, Fla., recorded a team-high 15 total tackles, including 9 solo tackles, in Virginia Union's 34-28 overtime win over Seton Hill University.
Parker, a sophomore from Miami, Fla., had two interceptions for 31 yards in VUU's 34-28 win over Seton Hill, including an interception in the overtime period.
Taylor, a sophomore from Hopewell, Va., rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Taylor also caught a touchdown pass in VUU's 34-28 overtime win.
Virginia Union meets Carson-Newman University on Saturday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
