Golf Places 16th at NCAA Regional

The championship was played at the Resort at Glades Springs in Daniels West Virginia Monday through Wednesday, May 7th through May 9th, 2018.  The Regional Championship was contested over 54 holes at the Cobb Course.  The Cobb Course is a Par 72, 7, 151 yards with tree lined fairway and large greens complexes. 

The Championship consisted of 20 teams and 8 Individuals. 10 teams were from the Atlantic Region and 4 Individuals and 10 teams were from the East Region and 4 Individuals.  This is a first in the history of VUU Golf to receive an at-large bid to play in the NCAA D2 Regional Golf Championship.

VUU team scoring was led by Allan Day with a score of 224 (74/76/74) and tied for 24th, Sergio Escalante 226 (74/79/73) and tied for 37th, Robel Woldagabriel (78/78/76) and tied for 58th and Paul Meints 235 (75/82/78) tied for 77th.  

"Receiving an at-large bid for the Regional Championships was one of the goals we set at the beginning of the season," said VUU Head Football Coach E. Lee Coble.  "I remain very proud of this golf team and looking forward to our continued post season play."
