It is with warm regards that we wish Dr. Corey D. B. Walker success as he concludes his role as Vice-President of Mission Integration and Dean of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology (STVU) at Virginia Union University (VUU) effective December 31, 2018.
VUU will begin the process of launching a national search for a new STVU leader. The search committee will be co-chaired by Dr. Boykin Sanders, Distinguished Professor of New Testament Studies and Greek, and the Reverend Dr. Howard-John Wesley, Pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church and VUU Board of Trustees member. The next leader of STVU will continue to build on the school’s strong legacy, both locally and globally, as it continues to serve the black church and communities and organizations committed to social-justice.
A STVU transition committee consisting of Dr. Boykin Sanders, Dr. Denise Janssen, Associate Professor of Christian Education, and Dr. Deborah Martin, newly appointed Interim Assistant Dean of STVU, has been established to provide for a seamless transition and to maintain efficient day to day operations for the school. In the coming weeks, a new Interim Dean of STVU will be announced.
VUU thanks Dr. Walker for his strong leadership over two academic years. The University will celebrate the work of Dr. Walker at a University-wide event in the future.
