Dear Panther Community,
June is already out of the door and July is here! I hope you have enjoyed time with your family and friends this summer. Even in this season of relaxation and vacations, Virginia Union University is on the move and new developments are taking place every day! Here are a few things you should know about:
VUU Receives $2M for Technology and Innovation
I am pleased to announce that Virginia Union University is the recipient of a $2M grant that will support innovation-related programs for the surrounding communities that we serve. As part of the approved budget, this grant will allow VUU to give students the opportunity to gain real world experience and exposure to in-demand fields and fund the resources to do so. This additional funding will allow VUU to further expand these vital programs and expand our reach and capacity to serve. Click here to read more.
I am grateful for our state legislators who see the importance of sowing seeds into institutions like VUU, allowing us to make a greater impact locally and around the world. Many of our state legislators and local change agents are VUU alumni and I encourage you to support them as they continue to support us.

Joseph Graham II Selected as White House Summer Intern
Congratulations to rising junior, Joseph “Joey” Graham II for being selected as a 2022 White House Summer Intern! In this role, he will support the Executive Office of the President and actively engage in public service. Through a highly selective process, the White House Internship Program chooses an elite group of students giving them the opportunity to see how the government works from inside the White House. It also gives students the opportunity to shape policymaking. I look forward to seeing the impact of this major achievement! We could even see the next alumni change agent shaping right before our eyes. Great work Joey!
