Virginia Union University’s Demarius Pitts has been named the CIAA Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the CIAA announced on Tuesday, December 18.
Pitts, a freshman guard from Clinton, Md., scored a career-high of 23 points in VUU's 82-76 win over Livingstone. Pitts is now averaging 18 points per game as a freshman for Virginia Union.
“Demarius is playing really well for us,” said VUU Head Coach Jay Butler. “He continues to be one of our most consistent players and hardest workers on the team.”
Pitts is leading the Panthers in scoring this season with a 17.5 points per game average.
Virginia Union travels to Charlotte, N.C., to face Queens University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3.
