Pitts Named CIAA Rookie of the Week for Fifth Time

Virginia Union University’s Demarius Pitts has been named the CIAA Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season, the CIAA announced on Wednesday, February 13.

Pitts, a freshman guard from Clinton, Md., scored 13 points in VUU's upset of Virginia State on February 9. Pitts is now averaging 13.9 points per game as a freshman for VUU.

“Demarius continues to establish himself as one of the best freshmen in the conference,” said VUU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  “I’m looking forward to him finishing the regular season strong and having a good CIAA Tournament.”

VUU is 15-10 overall and 10-4 in CIAA play.

The Panthers travel to Lincoln University, Pa., to face Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16.
