Virginia Union University's Sabrina Connor and Alyssa White won individual games, but Randolph-Macon College defeated VUU 9-0 in women's tennis on Wednesday, March 20, in Ashland, Va.
Connor lost her match at #1 singles 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) while White lost her match at #4 singles 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (13-11).
"The team played well and fought hard in several matches," said VUU Head Coach Guy Walton. "The younger players are gaining more confidence. For the younger players, as they gain more experience and confidence, it will reflect in their upcoming matches."
VUU's Michaela Mondesir lost at #2 singles 6-0, 6-2 and Jordan Parker lost her match at #3 singles 6-0, 6-1.
Virginia Union's Zsakee Crocker lost at #5 singles 6-0, 6-0 while Lynda Kaneza lost at #6 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Randolph-Macon also swept the three doubles matches 8-0, 8-0, 8-2.
The Lady Panthers now travel to Charlotte, N.C., to compete in the Johnson C. Smith Round-Up on March 22-24.
