Virginia Union University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Deborah Martin as VUU Dean of Students. In this role, Martin will lead the Student Affairs Division.
“I am excited to have Dr. Martin step into the role of Dean of Students,” said Dr. Hakim J. Lucas, President and CEO of Virginia Union University. “She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Student Affairs Division and will continue to help our students develop into the world leaders we know they can be.”
Since joining VUU in 2007, Dr. Martin has served as the Dean of VUU Global Campus, the Assistant Dean, Director of Administration & Strategic Initiatives and Coordinator of Graduate Admissions & Development for the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology. Dr. Martin also serves as an Assistant Professor of Practical Theology and the Faculty Athletic Representative for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and Community Wellness.
Dr. Martin obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, a Master of Divinity degree from the Virginia Union University Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Her doctoral work concentrated on “The Impact of Cross-Gendered Mentoring Approaches: Mentoring Female Preachers.”
