[RICHMOND – September 15, 2023] — Virginia Union University is announcing new leaders in its academic and administrative teams. Dr. Harriette Scott will join VUU's University College as Dean.

Their diverse experiences, expertise, and dedication to their respective fields make them valuable assets to our academic community,” said Dr. Lucas.
Dr. Harriette Scott is a nationally recognized educator and presenter. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Harriette energizes and engages learners in and out of the classroom. Noteworthy conference audiences include The American Association of Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, The National Association for the Education of Young Children, The American Board for Funeral Service Education, The National Council on Black American Affairs, The Chair Academy, and The American Association of Women in Community Colleges.
Harriette has served full-time faculty and administrative positions in Academic and Student Affairs in Oklahoma, Missouri, South Carolina, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Virginia. She has received “Teacher of the Year” and “Service Excellence” recognitions and awards in five states.
Harriette studies writes, teaches, and presents nationally on student success, women in leadership, collegiality, equity, diversity, and inclusion. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a teaching license and Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Norfolk State University, and a Doctorate in Education in Higher Education Administration at Morgan State University.
