(Richmond, VA) – Virginia Union University served as host to RVA Engage for the 2019 Civic Impact Summit on Wednesday, November 6 at the Claude G. Perkins Living and Learning Center. RVA Engage works to raise the collective civic voice across all sectors of the Richmond area region. The goal of the summit was to convene, connect, and converse with public, private, nonprofit, faith-based, youth, and higher education groups.
“Virginia Union is always open to partnering with organizations and people who are shining a light on our City of Richmond and who share the vision of making RVA even better,” said Dr. Hakim J. Lucas, President & CEO of Virginia Union University. “We are proud to host RVA Engage for this first summit and look forward to continued collaboration in the future.”
This year’s Civic Impact Summit is the first of its kind for RVA Engage. It invited a number of speakers who participated in panel discussions and breakout sessions. The key note address was given by Eric Liu, co-founder and CEO of Citizen University. He also serves as director of the Aspen Institute’s Citizenship & American Identity Program. Liu is an accomplished author and has previously served as a White House speechwriter for President Bill Clinton.
Virginia Union University and RVA Engage look to continue their collaborative efforts in order to carry on the vision of making a difference in the city of Richmond and its surrounding areas.
