RICHMOND, Virginia (June 19, 2019) _ Virginia Union University (VUU) is in the running for six HBCU Digest Awards, including “Best SGA (Student Government Association)” and “Women’s Team of the Year.” The 2019 finalists were announced through a video on HBCU Digest's website posted on Monday, June 17.
VUU is a finalist in the following categories:
The HBCU Awards is an annual ceremony honoring achievement at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) throughout the United States. The ceremony is hosted by HBCU Digest, an online blog site which reports on the news of HBCUs.
The blog site touts the HBCU Awards as the first and only national awards ceremony honoring individual and institutional achievement at historically Black colleges and universities.
Finalists in each category are selected based on the merit of accomplishment and for generating positive coverage for HBCU campus communities. Winners are selected by a panel of previous HBCU Award winners, presidents and chancellors and media members who cover HBCUs.
The awards ceremony will be held on Aug. 2 at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in downtown Baltimore.
