October 06, 2016

Virginia Union University Athletic Director Joe Taylor is a coaching finalist for the Black College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017.  As a coach, Taylor won four national championships, 14 conference championships, seven bowl games, and has a lifetime win-loss record of 233-96-4.

The finalists were selected from a field of more than 175 nominees by a 13-member selection committee composed of journalists, commentators, historians, football executives, and former NFL general managers.  This year’s inductees will be announced on October 26, 2016.  They will be honored during the Black College Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which is scheduled for February 25, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Black College Football Hall of Fame was founded in 2009 by quarterbacks James Harris and Doug Williams to preserve the history of the greatest football players and coaches from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
