The VCU Shootout was played at The Country Club of Virginia, Tuckahoe Creek Course in Petersburg, VA on Monday and Tuesday, September 13th, and 14th, 2021. The Shootout was contested over 54 holes.
VUU team scoring was led by Senior, Travon Willis tied for 62nd with a score of 227 (76/75/76), followed by Senior Alkin Barkley tied for 65th with a score of 235 (76/77/775), Senior Hayden Garcia tied for 68th with a score of 234 (76/76/82), Senior Ahmad Reedus finished 71st 235 (75/78/82) and followed by first time Sophomore Joseph Graham tied for 72nd with a score of 241 (83/74/84).
“This was our sternest test since the Covid-19 shutdown,” said VUU Head Golf Coach E. Lee Coble. “This was our return to competition in eighteen months. This was also a first time invite from VCU for VUU to play in their tournament. We were the only HBCU and DII representative in this DI field. It was an honor to have been invited and I am very proud of the way the guys hung in there and played. Our next tournament is September 20th and 21st, The Griffin Invitational Tournament in Petersburg, VA.”
