(Richmond, Virginia) - We have exciting news to share: After 12 years of service to Virginia Union University, JaPrince Carter is leaving to start a new chapter in his higher education career.
“It has been both an honor and privilege to serve the over 13,000 alumni of our beloved alma mater,” Carter said. “I have been fortunate to work with the nation’s best and brightest and for that I am truly grateful.”
During his time as VUU’s director of Alumni Relations, Carter has been instrumental in the growth within alumni philanthropy, which includes student recruitment, mentoring, and volunteering. He was part of the driving force behind a strategic approach that resulted in alumni contributing more than $1.1 million in support of VUU’s overall campaign; alumni donors increasing by 10%; alumni affinity giving increasing by 18%, reunion classes exceeding fundraising goal by 34%, and the institution breaking homecoming attendance records.
Carter steps down Wednesday, January 23, 2019. His interim successor is Deborah Alston, director of Prospect Research and Gifts Management. Alumni can reach Ms. Alston by calling Alumni Relations at (804)342-3938 or by email at dalston@vuu.edu. A search is underway for a permanent replacement.
Please join us in wishing JaPrince much success in the future.
