FOCUS SESSIONS: Leadership & Administration Skills

FALL TERM VI

October 26, 2020 – December 17, 2020 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

1. Justice & Advocacy in the Church & Community
This course will help students connect faith with justice while exploring opportunities for the church to use Christian traditions to partner with the community.
2. Essential Leadership Skills
This course will explore the importance of skills necessary to lead effectively as ministry and community leaders. 
3. Communication & Writing Tips for Ministry & Community Leaders
Communication is essential to help us process words, sounds, signs, and behaviors in exchanging information with others.  This course will review the basic principles of written communication skills that will aid students with various written assignments.

FOCUS SESSIONS: Theological Preparation

FALL TERM VI

October 26, 2020 – December 17, 2020 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

1. Writing in Theological Context
This course will assist students in developing the skill of writing within a theological context, i.e., devotional materials, journal articles, and sermons.
2. Critical Reading & Analytical Thinking
This course will assist the student in acquiring a higher level of skill in reading with a critical eye when preparing written material using analytical skills.
3. Bible in Depth
This course will engage participants in the study of the Bible in ways that will challenge them intellectually and increase their comfort level with the academic study of scripture.  Students will demonstrate their comfort level of scripture through various writing assignments that deals with their spiritual growth and their involvement in the community.
